Bird's Underwater

Bird's Underwater is a dive center at 320 NW Hwy 19 in Crystal River that runs guided scalloping tours by boat during the July 1 to September 24 season. Guests usually meet at the dive center at 7:00 am, then take about a 40 minute boat ride through the mangrove islands to the scallop beds near Crystal River and Homosassa. The tour is listed at $95 per passenger for about 6 hours, with semi-private or fully private groups and a 4 passenger minimum for online booking. Snorkel gear, mesh bags, ice, soft drinks, snacks and your license are provided, along with a lesson on cleaning scallops. The shop also runs manatee tours, scuba trips and kayak rentals.
